Introduced as the industry's smallest and most flexible multi-channel d/a converters, the AD57xx family includes 12 converters ranging from 12- to 16-bit dual- and quad-channel devices operating over a wide voltage range on either single or dual power supplies, all of which are housed in small, pin-compatible TSSOPs. The converters are said to be more than 40% smaller than comparable devices. The AD572x, AD573x, and AD575x families operate from single supply voltages of 4.5V to 16.5V, or dual supply voltages of ±4.5 V to ±16.5 V. Output range is software selectable at 5V, 10V, ±5V, ±10V, plus an over-range setting. Each device includes a 30-MHz SPI, power-on reset, and a per-channel power-down mode. Additionally, they offer hardware LDAC and CLR functionality and a programmable output amplifier that allows rail-to-rail output swing. Sample prices range from $3.50 for a 12-bit dual device to $8.25 for a 14-bit quad. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Wilmington, MA. (800) 262-5643.
