Reportedly consuming 80% less space and power per conversion than comparable devices, the AD7980 a/d converter is designed for use in wireless patient monitors and other medical and industrial units. The 16-bit device delivers a sampling rate to 1 Msamples/s, consuming 7.5 mW at the maximum rate. It specifies a 2-LSB maximum INL and 91.5-dB SNR at 20 kHz and is available in LFCSP/QFN and MSOP packages that, respectively, are five and three times smaller than similar a/d converter packages.
