Helping meet the growing demand for current sensors by automotive companies as they migrate to 42V electrical systems, the AD8205 difference amplifier boasts of a wide, -2V to +65V input common-mode voltage (CMV) range and the ability to eliminate error sources commonly associated with current sensing in electromechanical systems, such as by rejecting high CMVs. The device is also compatible with today's 14V and 24V systems and, as a high-side current sensing solution, is well-suited for use in solenoid and motor control circuits such as are associated with brakes, steering, suspension and transmission systems. Other features of the AD8205 include offset drift of less than 20 µV/°C and a gain drift of less than 30 ppm/°C (up to 125°C). The 8-pin SOIC can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +125°C and has a price tag of $0.95 each/1M. The device also comes in die form having a -40°C to +150°C temperature range.
