Promising to simplify IEC61000-4-5 verification, the SMM4F family of unidirectional Transil voltage surge-suppression diodes protects against 400W, 10-/1,000-microsecond surges. Reportedly smaller than existing 400W devices in SMA packages, the diodes measure 3.8 mm x 1.9 mm. They specify a leakage current of 0.2 mA and a maximum leakage current of 1 mA at 85°C, making them suitable for telecom applications. The family includes 14 devices with standoff voltages between 5V and 33V and each specifies a maximum junction temperature of 175°C. Pricing is $0.10 each/10,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA.
