Challenging comparable TSSOP-8 devices, the 20V Si8901EDB and 30V Si8904EDB power MOSFETs specify on-resistance values of 30 mÙ and 22.5 mÙ, respectively, in chip-scale packages (CSPs) that are reportedly 81% smaller. Both are available in a MICRO FOOT package measuring 1.6 mm x 2.4 mm and 0.65 mm in height. The Si8901EDB targets lithium-ion and lithium-polymer smart battery packs in portable products that currently employ dual p-channel SO-8 or TSSOP-8 MOSFETs. For battery packs relying on a traditional common-drain, n-channel configuration, the Si8904EDB steps up to the plate. Both devices provide extensive ESD protection: 6 kV for the Si8901EDB and 4 kV for the Si8904EDB. Price for either is $0.65 each/100,000. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malvern, PA. (619) 336-0860.
