The TOPSwitch-GX product line now offers a new surface-mount package option. The high-power switcher IC family offers power ratings up to 82 W. The new devices are offered in the standard TO-263 surface-mount package, also known as the D2PAK.

The TOPSwitch-GX high-voltage ICs integrate a high-voltage power MOSFET, PWM control, fault protection, and other control circuitry onto a single CMOS chip. Built-in features include soft-start for minimum overshoot and lower component stresses at startup. Also included are frequency jittering for low EMI, undervoltage protection, overvoltage shutdown, current limit, and the company's energy-saving EcoSmart technology.

Pricing for the TOPSwitch-GX surface-mount devices ranges from $1.58 each for the TOP242R-TL, rated at up to 22 W, to $2.94 each for the TOP249R-TL, rated at up to 82 W. All pricing is for 5000-unit quantities.
