In a package measuring 10 mm x 12 mm, the maXyz X3015P point-of-load (POL) converter outputs up to 15A, which translates into a current density of over 80A per square inch. Input voltage ranges from 3V to 6V and output voltage is programmable from 0.75V to 4.0V. The device requires a minimum number of external components and promises a parts reduction of over 90% compared to discrete techniques. Other features include UL approval and a programmable fixed frequency from 300 kHz to 500 kHz, said to allow optimization of POL designs for the smallest size, lowest cost, and highest efficiency. Sampling now, production is set for July. For further information and prices, call POWER ONE INC., Camarillo, CA. (805) 987-8741.
