Based on a power process technology that yields very low Miller charge (Qgd), total gate charge (Qg) and on-resistance (RDS(on)), the FDS6294 and FDS7288N3 power MOSFETs offer fast switching times and high thermal efficiency in synchronous buck regulator applications. Low Qgd also decreases switching losses and reduces dead time for improved regulation. Both devices are rated for 30V breakdown voltage. Qgd of the FDS6294 is 3 nC typical, and RDS(on) is 11.3 m? maximum. It is supplied in an SO-8 package. The FDS7288N3 has similar specifications but is housed in an SO-8 FLMP (Flip Chip Molded Package). This wireless package provides very low junction-to-case thermal resistance and low package inductance. Heat is extracted directly below the package making for better thermal performance. Pricing for the FDS6294 is $0.78 each/1,000 and for the FDS7288N3 is $1.52 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, Santa Jose, CA. (619) 336-0860.
