The LTC6910-1 digitally-controlled, programmable gain amplifier (PGA) outputs inverting gains of 0, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 V/V that are digitally selectable using a three-bit control input. Offered in an eight-pin SOT-23 package, the device occupies just 9 mm square of board space, said to be less than one-tenth the area of typical discrete designs. Other features of the new programmable gain amplifier include a gain bandwidth product of 11MHz, an input-referred noise voltage density of 9nV/Square Root Hz, and a distortion figure of 0.003%. Operating from single or split supplies from 2.7V to 10V total, the LTC6910-1 is fully specified for operation over both the commercial and industrial temperature ranges. Additional characteristics include a rail-to-rail input range, rail-to-rail output swing, and a dynamic range of 119dB. Price is $0.90 each/100K.
