Said to allow designers to quickly and easily develop a power supply for point-of-load applications, the TPS54910 synchronous buck dc/dc converter integrates 12A-peak MOSFETs and delivers greater than 9A of continuous current over its temperature range. The device can operate using voltages ranging from 3V to 3.6V and comes housed in a 28-pin HTSSOP package. Dubbed the TPS54910 SWIFT (Switcher With Integrated FET Technology) dc/dc converter, the device also features an on-resistance of 15 m_ and an efficiency of greater than 95%. And to address an application’s switching noise sensitivity, the device’s switching frequency can be one of two preset values or adjusted anywhere between 280 and 700 kHz. In addition to the TPS54910, other fixed or adjustable output voltage versions of the SWIFT dc/dc converter family are available with 2.0% total accuracy. The TPS54910 housed in the 28-pin PowerPAD thin shrink small outline package costs $5.69 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 336-5236.
