Said to have the industry's lowest on-resistance (7.5 m½ at a 10V gate drive) for a device of its type, the SUB50N04-07LT temperature-sensing MOSFET is designed for circuit protection in automotive applications. The device is rated for a 40V-breakdown voltage, can handle up to 50A of current, and provides a 175ûC maximum junction temperature. Using the falling forward voltage of the on-board diodes to detect increases in temperature, this forward voltage is fed into circuitry allowing the MOSFET to shut off power if temperature is excessive. Price is $1.42 each/100,000. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malvern, PA. (610) 644-1300.
