Designed for multi-channel and low-power applications, the 8-bit AT84AD004 a/d converter operates at 500 Msamples/s per channel, with an aggregate rate of 1 Gsamples/s from one channel in interleaving mode. The device integrates dual track/hold circuits that are said to provide impressive dynamic performance over a 1 GHz input frequency. Effective number of bits (ENOB) is typically 7.3 bits at 500 Msamples/s and 250 MHz (Nyquist). Other features include dual 1:2 or 1:1 selectable data output demultiplexers and a power consumption of 700 mW per channel. Available in a 20 mm x 20 mm, 144-pin LQFP, unit price is $100 for 1,000-piece quantities. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA. (408) 441-0311.
