Gain, offset and power level are all programmable in the X9430 op amp, which combines analog, digital and non-volatile memory circuits in a single chip. The device is said to make it easier for engineers to design self-calibration and self-test into end products ranging from PCs to networking devices, pagers, cell phones, and DVD players. Programmability of power levels enables extension of battery life in portables.On the chip are two general-purpose op amps that are programmed by means of a digital value loaded over either a Serial Peripheral Interface or I2C serial interface. The op amps themselves have specs that compare to 741, 301A and OP07 types. Programmable parameters are stored in non-volatile memory.
