Offering two fully differential input channels and a differential reference input, the 24-bit LTC2412 no latency delta sigma A/D converter boasts of a low noise spec of 800 VRMS, providing a 22.5 effective number of bits (ENOBs) over a ±2.5V span and 16.9 ENOBs over ±50 mV, thereby eliminating the need for PGAs. The wide input range is said to easily handle sensor offsets and tare voltages, eliminating the need for front-end signal conditioning. This, together with the high resolution available, allows direct sensor connection. The no latency delta sigma architecture is said to ensure single cycle digital filter settling, even after a change in channels or input voltage step. And an on-chip oscillator provides a selectable notch filter of 50 or 60 Hz with rejection of better than 110 dB. Operating from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply, the LTC2412 ADC consumes only 200 µA of supply current and automatically shuts down to 4 µA between conversions.
