The LTC2433-1 16-bit a/d converter relies on its 100 mV reference to resolve differential input signals of ±50 mV to 16 bits without the help of a PGA. With a noise figure of 1.45 µVRMS, the new ADC maintains 16-bit performance over a reference voltage range of 100 mV to 5V. And it performs offset and full-scale calibration on every conversion with a maximum offset error of 20 µV, 1.25 LSB full-scale error, 1.25 LSB integral non-linearity error, and a transition noise of less than 0.02 LSB. Other features include a proprietary no-latency architecture that allows single-cycle settling, an internal oscillator to eliminate external crystals or clock sources, and a filter that rejects line frequencies to 87 dB with simultaneous 50/60 Hz rejection. And an external clock source can be employed to reject other frequencies or increase the output rate up to 100 Hz with 16 ENOBs. Operating on 2.7V to 5.5V, current draw is only 200 µA during conversion cycles and 4 µA in shutdown mode.
