Taking aim at professional and consumer audio designs, the AK5385A 24-bit, two-channel a/d converter supports sample rates from 8 to 216 kHz, making it suitable for use in DVD-A and 192-kHz recording formats. The device provides fully differential inputs and employs an enhanced dual-bit architecture that yields a 114-dB SNR. It operates from a 5V analog or 3V to 5.25V digital supply, making it compatible with industry-standard DSPs. For users of the company's other ADCs, the AK5385A is pin-compatible with current devices, including the high-performance AK5394A. With five pin-compatible parts in the family, designers can change price/performance to suit their needs. In a 28-pin VSOP, AK5385A costs $5 each/5K. AKM SEMICONDUCTOR INC., San Jose, CA.
