Claiming a breakthrough in cost reduction and integration, the AX501 assumes title as the industry's first fully integrated CMOS, GSM/GPRS power amplifier. The device houses a quad-band GSM/GPRS power amplifier for use in any dual-, triple-, or quad-band GSM/GPRS cellular handset or data module. Its core includes 50W input and output matching circuitry, allowing for direct connection to the transceiver output and the transmit/receive switch input without the use of external components. Power level is set via an integrated closed-loop power controller, eliminating the need for couplers, detectors, and error amplifiers. This topology also ensures that the GSM power/time mask is met with adequate margins. Price $1.50 each/10,000. AXIOM MICRODEVICES INC., Orange, CA. (714) 634-3827.
