Two new ESD protection diode arrays, the GMF05C/05LC, are packaged in the SOT363, saving 40% in pc board space compared with the conventional SOT23-6 package. The arrays are intended for mobile electronics equipment in portable communications such as cellular phones and PDAs and battery-powered products such as laptop computers and digital cameras. With a peak pulse current of 12A, and a peak pulse power of 200W with an 8/20 waveform, the GM05C is optimized for high pulse current applications. Total capacitance is 150 pF. Peak pulse current for the GMF05LC is 5A and peak pulse power is 70W, while total capacitance is 50 pF. Both versions have a reverse standoff voltage of 5V. Each offers IEC 61000 protection of 15 kV (air) and 8 kV (contact). They provide bidirectional protection of four I/O lines and unidirectional protection of five I/O lines. The SOT363 package measures 1.25 mm x 2.05 mm x 1 mm high and is specified for a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. Pricing starts at $12/100 in 100,000 quantities.
