Features are designed into the AK4368 low power stereo d/a converter to make it suitable for ultra-compact mobile phones, smart phones and portable media players. The device contains a 3D audio enhancement circuit, high output headphone amplifier and a phase locked loop (PLL). The 3D and bass boost circuits improve audio quality for small portable audio devices. The headphone amplifier delivers up 40 mW of power to a 16W speaker and has no pop noise at power on/off or mute. The PLL is compatible with most mobile phone standards and with USB system clock frequencies, and it can generate internal frequencies for audio playback. Power management functions switches the power to each circuit block on or off independently. The device operates over a range of 1.6V to 3.6V, and it draws 4.0 mA at 2.4V.
