In an 8-pin TDFN package measuring just 3 mm x 3 mm, the MAX5547 dual, 10-bit current-sink d/a converter integrates a precision 4 ppm/°C band-gap reference and a SPI, giving it credence as the smallest such device available. The chip operates from a single 2.7V to 5.25V supply and specifies an accuracy of ±4 LSB at 1.2 mA. It typically settles to within 1 LSB of full scale in 10 µs. The full-scale output sink-current range is software selectable from 0 mA to 1.2 mA or 0 mA to 3.6 mA and is independent for each converter. Operating temperature range is from -40°C to 85°C. Pricing for the MAX5547 starts at $3.19 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
