\[September 18, 2006\] Extending battery life in a range of portable products, the WM8956 audio d/a converter integrates a stereo Class D amplifier that achieves an efficiency of 87% and a THD of 0.03% at full power, stated as 1W per channel into an 8W load. Simultaneously, the converter and amplifier consume an operating power of 10 mW while reaching a SNR of 98 dB. In terms of saving space, the device replaces four discrete parts: speaker driver, audio d/a converter, and headphone and microphone amplifiers. Other features include the company's pop-and-click suppression technology, differential microphone/line inputs, and 3D audio enhancement.
