Trumpeted as the highest resolution a/d converter available in a 6-pin SOT-23 package, the 18-bit, delta-sigma MCP3421 features an integrated voltage reference and programmable gain amplifier (PGA), reducing the need for external components. The device employs an I2C interface and operates from a single supply voltage from 2.7V to 5.5V. It specifies a power consumption of 155 µA at 5V continuous conversion. Via the onboard PGA, users can select gains of x1, x2, x4, or x8 before conversion takes place. Target markets include industrial, medical, consumer, and automotive. Price is $1.71 each/10,000.
