In a MLP measuring 6 mm x 6 mm, the RoHS-compliant FDMF6700 is considered to be the market's smallest integrated DrMOS FET plus driver power stage. According to the company, a typical buck converter on a PC motherboard may include three N-channel MOSFETs in a DPAK package per phase and one driver IC in an SO8 package. By replacing these components with the FDMF6700, board-space savings are estimated to be more than 80%. Additionally, the integration of components into an optimized single-package minimizes the parasitic inductances of board traces and leads common to individual discrete packages. Available now, price is $2.50 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA. (800) 341-0392.
