The MAX109, said to be the industry's highest performance, 8-bit 2.2-Gsample/s a/d converter, is optimized for capturing input frequencies in the second Nyquist zone. Fabricated on an advanced SiGe process, the chip integrates a track/hold amplifier, quantizer, and a 1:4 demultiplexer. At a sample rate of 2.2 Gsamples/s and an input frequency of 300 MHz, it achieves a SFDR of 62 dBc and a SNR of 45 dB, which remains flat within 1.6 dB for input frequencies up to 2 GHz. The device supports either differential or single-ended inputs with a ±250-mV range and output data is in standard LVDS format, demultiplexed by the 1:4 demultiplexer. The LVDS outputs operate from a supply voltage of 3V to 3.6V. Available in a 256-pin SBGA package, operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA.
