Dubbed the market’s lowest-power, highest channel count 12-bit ADC, the 16-channel, 65-Msample/s SAM1600 family also boasts of industry-leading power consumption at 44 mW per channel. Two of the devices integrate the company’s patented Prism data compression technology, which reduces the number of LVDS I/O pairs and the power they consume, by up to 75%. The family includes the SAM1610, SAM1605, and SAM1600. The 16-channel SAM1610 and eight-channel SAM1605 combine 12-bit, 45/65 Msample/s ADCs with Prism signal compression and patent-pending port concentration technology. For systems not requiring compression, the 16-channel SAM1600 is a traditional ADC configuration, also configurable as two independent octal ADCs with separate frame and clock outputs to maintain compatibility with legacy FPGA or ASIC beam-forming designs. All members of the SAM1600 family come in a 12 mm x 12 mm, 196-ball BGA package. Prices for the SAM1610, SAM1605, and SAM1600 are $79, $39.50, and $64 each/1,000, respectively.
