Analog Switch Integrates USB Host-Charger ID Circuit

The MAX14550E high-speed USB analog switch integrates a USB host-charger identification circuit to automatically detect portable devices. It allows a host to charge portable devices even when the host is in standby and cannot enumerate USB devices. The chip supports the USB Battery Charging Specification Revision 1.0 with shorted D+/D- detection as well as Apple-compliant devices using a set resistor bias. Other features include a high-speed USB switch with a 4-pF on capacitance and a 4? on resistance. Available in a 10-pin, 3 mm x 3 mm TDFN, prices start at $1.65 each/1,000.
