first silicon surge protectors meeting international surge-protection standard IEC61000-4-5, the STIEC45 Transil family provides mandatory protection for power supplies against surges, electrostatic discharge, and electrical fast transients

Emerging as the company’s first silicon surge protectors meeting international surge-protection standard IEC61000-4-5, the STIEC45 Transil family provides mandatory protection for power supplies against surges, electrostatic discharge, and electrical fast transients. The devices maintain more than 75% of their protection capability up to 150°C and are soldered to standard-sized metal pads on the PCB. They also meet IEC61000-4-2 for ESD and IEC61000-4-4 requirements. Five variations of the STIEC45 are available with stand-off voltages from 24V to 33V and in 8 mm x 6 mm SMC packages, priced from $0.20 each/100,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA.
