To avoid false touches, the MAX11836 haptic actuator controller for single-/multi-layer piezo actuators and electroactive polymers provides the ability to measure touch pressure. The device simplifies adding haptic feedback to end applications with a touch screen or buttons. Features include storage of haptic patterns, play-out logic, output-configurable dc/dc conversion, output drivers for capacitive loads, and a boost converter supporting 10V to 250V actuators. In a 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm, 25-bump wafer-level package, price starts at $1.65 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
