The XR811xx series of universal clocks offers output frequencies ranging from 10 MHz to 1.5 GHz with output phase noise jitter of less than 200 fs, meeting the requirements of most WAN and LAN systems. The synthesizers’ design employs a flexible delta-sigma modulator and wide-ranging voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) in a power-efficient phase-locked loop (PLL) block. The PLL can operate from an input system clock or a crystal, and incorporates an integer divider and high-resolution (<1 Hz) fractional divider. Up to four different frequency multiplier settings can be stored, and users can choose from either LVCMOS, LVDS, or LVPECL output drivers. According to the company, the devices’ 20-mA core current consumption leads to 60% less power dissipation than equivalent competitive devices. They come in QFN-10 and TSSOP-8 packages, making them compatible with industry-standard synthesizers.
