Saving space in 2.5G, 3G, and 4G transceivers, the MAX2062 incorporates nine unique circuit functions and debuts as the industry's only fully programmable, multistate, dual-channel, analog-plus-digital IF/RF variable-gain amplifier (VGA). The device provides rapid-fire gain selection of four customized attenuation states per path, 25-ns digital switching, and very low digital VGA amplitude overshoot/undershoot. It serves as either an IF or RF all-purpose VGA, interfacing directly with 50? systems operating over the 50 MHz to 1 GHz frequency range. Alternately, the chip is configurable to provide a compromise between the two parameters. Available in a 48-pin TQFN package, prices start at $13.45 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
