802.11n Industrial Wi-Fi Access Point Utilizes Dual Antennas
June 27, 2012
Adding to their Airolinx line of industrial wireless products, Aaxeon has developed the APN-300N model. Building upon their 802.11b/g and 802.11a/b/g models, but also including the 802.11n Wi-Fi standard, this model provides up to 300 Mbps throughput. IEEE 802.11n builds on to the previous 802.11 standards by adding multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and 40 MHz channels to the physical layer, and frame aggregation to the MAC layer. The APN-300N model has a MIMO radio with two antennas, thereby supporting 2T2R technology. The APN-300N supports both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band and will contain an independent radio option using the 5 GHz radio for a backhaul and the 2.4 GHz radio for a local connection. The unit has two LAN ports, it supports STP, and has a standard operating temperature range of -10 C to 60 C. The company is also offering an extended temperature model with operating range of -35 C to 75 C. The APN-300N will be available to ship in Q3 of 2012.
