Meggitt Sensing Systems, a Meggitt group division, has announced the Endevco® model 7264 series as its industry best-selling piezoresistive shock accelerometer family. With a frequency response extending down to DC, or steady state acceleration, these transducers are ideal for measuring long duration transients and short duration shock impacts of structures or systems.

Available in undamped configurations which produce no phase shift over the accelerometer's useful frequency range, the Endevco model 7264 series is designed for use in anthropomorphic test dummies (ATDs), automotive crash testing, aircraft and automotive seat belt testing, sled testing, ejection seat testing, drop testing, and other applications in which minimal mass loading and a broad frequency response are absolute requirements.

Models within the patented Endevco model 7264 series meet both SAEJ211 impact testing and SAE J2570 anthropomorphic device testing standards, as well as Euro NCAP standards (US patents 4,498,229 and 4,605,919), Most models feature an advanced monolithic MEMS sensor design with integral mechanical stops for ruggedness, stability and reliability, incorporating a full bridge circuit with fixed resistors for shunt calibration. This low mass monolithic sensor series weighs just 1.4 grams and offers 10,000 g shock survivability. All MEMS sensing elements are manufactured at Meggitt's own ISO9001 certified facility in Sunnyvale, California, USA, for consistently high-quality product tested according to rigorous in-house standards. These transducers also feature integral ESD protection for the reduction of handling damage.

The B variation, the Endevco model 7264B series, is available in both 500 g and 2000 g full-scale ranges, both with 400 mV full-scale output typical, with excellent linearity and a wide frequency response. In addition, this accelerometer series offers stable performance over a temperature range of -40° to +93°C (-40° to +200°F) with 10 Vdc excitation and a sensitivity of 0.80 mV/g for 500 g units; 0.20 mV/g for 2000 g units. It is also available from stock with less than 1% transverse sensitivity (T option).

The C variation, the Endevco model 7264C series, is available in two versions, both with 400 mV full-scale output typical: a 2,000 g model, with minimum 300 mV full-scale output and flat frequency response from 0 to 5,000 g; and a 500 g model, with 200 mV minimum full-scale output and flat frequency response from 0 to 3,000 g. The series is also optionally available with <1% transverse sensitivity (T option) and <±25 mV zero measurand output (Z option). Triaxial measurement capabilities for the model 7264C may be achieved via the optional model 7953A triaxial mounting block or use of an alternative accelerometer product, the Endevco model 7268C. The series D variation, model 7264D, is available in a 2,000 g range and is a higher resonance version of the model 7264C, featuring the same center of gravity and sensitivity, yet with enhanced frequency response from 0 to 6,000 g to capture more data and avoid spurious noise. The 7264D comes standard with 2V, 5V and 10V calibration certificates.
