In addition to motors and controllers, a rotary encoder is the third essential module in the software and hardware for closed loop applications. With the NOE2,  Nanotec U.S. Inc. enhances its product range of small-sized optical encoders with high resolutions.

The NOE2 achieves a resolution up to 4000 CPR, despite its small size of 31 x 37 x 11,5 mm. As a result, this leads to a mechanical resolution down to 0,225° using quadratic evalution. This corresponds to a resolution of 80 increments per step for a stepper motor with a 1.8° step angle and this is four to eight times the resolution that has been achieved with conventional incremental encoders. The commutation angle in field-oriented controlled operation can be measured with high accuracy for a very good synchronization even at low speeds.

The 3-channel encoder NOE2 comes with a line driver. Beside the 5V standard version, there is a 24 V variation available for use in mechanical engineering.
