Magnetically Operated Reed Proximity Sensors for SMD Mounting

April 7, 2015

Standex-Meder Electronics announces its MK15 magnetically operated reed proximity sensors for surface-mount device (SMD) mounting, ideal for electronic PCBs where all components are surface-mounted.

Designed for high requirement applications, the MK15 is the perfect choice for position-detecting in safety components and proximity sensors in medical products. It is also excellent for telecommunication, white goods, industrial and automotive applications such as meter counting sensors, lid detectors and alarm sensors. With its small dimension, only 19.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 millimeters, and efficient internal structure, the MK15 is excellent for low-power operations, requiring no external power for sensor operation. Two lead designs are available, flat, straight leads for PCB slot mounting and flat, bent to Gull-Wing SMD leads. This product is also available in six operating sensitivities.

The sensors are supplied taped and reeled according to IEC 286-3, suitable for auto-placement. The magnetic pull-in sensitivity is divided into several classes at 5 AT steps each, beginning from 10 AT.
