Reducing the number of wires needed for signal transmission from as many as 19 to just eight, the SinCoder Servo Motor Feedback System provides commutation, speed regulation and position information that previously would require three separate feedback sensors. The system has an integrated EEPROM and is designed to be used in applications where resolver technology is employed. Typical resolver precision is 10 to 20 angular minutes with accuracy to ±60 arc seconds. Resolutions exceeding 4 million counts are achievable at shaft speeds of 12,000 rpm. The system is a cross between an incremental and absolute encoder.
