Built on the ironless rotor concept, the new 17S miniature brush dc motor was developed to achieve the highest performance for dc motors of this size, yet remain an economical choice for the design engineer. The ironless rotor is claimed to minimize both power losses and rotor inertia, while the use of rare earth magnets provides exceptional acceleration and performance within an extremely compact package. The 17S's precious metal commutation system develops the least amount of friction possible, resulting in high efficiency and an extended life. It also utilizes the company's patented Electro-Erosion Reduction system to increase the motor life by up to 50%. CE approved, the 17S is said to be ideal for use in battery-powered devices such as medical pumps, and in security cameras and model trains. List price is $33 each.
