Prepped for deployment in cell phones with digital cameras, the dual-channel MPC17C724 motor driver provides motor control via variable current for single- or dual-motor drive systems. The chip operates with supply voltages from 2.7V to 5.5V and delivers continuous drive currents of 0.4A while handling peak currents up to 0.8A. Features include a two-channel H-bridge driver, direct interface to the MCU, shoot-through-current prevention, low-voltage shutdown, SMARTMOS technology, and multiple forward, reverse, break, and high-impedance driving modes. The device is available now in a lead-free QFN package measuring 3 mm x 3 mm x 0.9 mm. Pricing is $0.55 each/1,000. FREESCALE SEMICONDUCTOR INC., Austin, TX. (800) 521-6274.
