High Torque Motors Suit Compact Apps

Oct. 25, 2004
A new high-torque motor has been designed for robotics and compact applications. The 12GN geared DC micromotor measures just 12 mm x 10 mm x 29 mm from terminals to tip of shaft and weighs 8.7g. Starting torque is 300 mN-m, and rated load is 20 mN-m.

Operation is quiet due to the close tolerance precision of the shaft rotation. The 12GN comes with a choice of four gear ratios: Model NA1S has a gear ratio of 1/75.7; model NA2S, 1/34.5; Model NA3S, 1/196.6, and model NA4S, 1/297. Motors with limiters can be requested. No-load speed ranges from 62 rpm to 246 rpm, depending on model. No-current load is 120 mA. Endplay is 0.02 mm to 0.35 mm in the drive shaft, and lateral play is less than 0.04 mm at the tip of the drive shaft. Vibration is less than 40 m/s2.. Operating temperature range is 0°C to +50°C, with reduced life expectancy in colder environments. Pricing starts at less than $3.00 each/100,000. SANYO DC MICRO MOTOR DIV., Bensenville, IL.
