The surface-mount OARS-XP series open-air, current-sense resistors now offer versions with a higher power rating than conventional metal-element resistors. They feature a wider metal alloy resistive element that enables TCR ratings and thermal compliance that suits automotive designs. Applications include window lift motors, fuel pump systems, seat belt pre-tensioners, and PWM feedback. Resistance values range from 2 mΩ to 50 mΩ with standard tolerances of ±1% and ±5%. Inductance values are less than 10 nH and operating temperature range is from -40°C to +125°C. Custom devices outside these specifications are an option, and RoHS-compliant and zero-ohm jumper versions are also available. Typical pricing for the OARS-XP resistors is $0.40 each/ 1,500.
