Providing a 3-channel signal output (A, B and index) in a package with shielded or seared ball bearings, the RS15 self-contained incremental encoder is designed to offer improved performance and reliability, while its single LED and sensor arrangement also reduces unit cost. These and other features give the RS15 encoder the flexibility to target high volume OEM users, as well as low-volume semi-custom applications. The encoder housing measures 1.62'' in diameter with a body axial length of 1.25''. A face mount with a 1'' bolt circle and four 4.40 holes or a C-flange mounting adapter is available with optional flex coupling. The unit weighs 4.8 oz. and is available with over 30 resolutions, ranging from 16 to 1,250 lines/revolution. Other features include a maximum achievable slew speed of 6,000 rpm and an 8-lead cable supplied with an integral strain relief for easy mounting. RENCO ENCODERS INC., Goleta, CA. (805) 968-1525.
