Stating performance advantages over traditional optical encoders and potentiometers, the ED Series magnetic encoders forecast more robust sensor-system designs at lower total costs. The components employ MR technology, which entails non-contact sensing and shields electronics from the operating environment. Fully encapsulated, the encoders are virtually immune to contamination in harsh to severe environments. The ED-18, ED-19, ED-20, and ED-21 are available in several industry-standard packages and feature resolutions from 64 to 1,024 counts per rotation plus integrated line driver options with active termination for longer cable runs. Analog versions are also available with outputs from 0 to 5 Vdc, 0.5 to 4.5 Vdc, 0 to 20 mA, and 4 to 20 mA. For pricing, call MEASUREMENT SPECIALTIES INC., Hampton VA. (800) 745-8008.
