Programmable Chip Controls Steppers

Packaged in a 64-pin QFP and used to control stepper motors and pulse-input-type servo motors, the PCL-5014 programmable pulse generator chip is designed to take the burden off the CPU for motion control tasks. It finds application in semiconductor manufacturing, inspection systems, medical analysis machines, and banking machines. The chip features stepping rates of up to 4.9 MHz, a choice of S-curve or linear acceleration/deceleration, microstepping, out-of-step detection, output of idling pulses, Motorola or Intel interface, 8-bit or 16-bit data bus, 12 different home positions, and generation of interrupt by 22 various events.
