The new 5000 Series linear servo motors are fit for a broad range of industrial applications, including packaging, material handling, robotic, and machine tool systems. In addition to a single moving part, integral bearings and exceptional force per volume, the 5000 Series motors also boast of being fully programmability. The linear motors incorporate 3-phase brushless dc technology and use rare earth neodymium magnets, which are positioned in the shape of rings, with the magnets arranged in alternating polarity down the length of the shaft. The stator has teeth and slots, also configured in the shape of rings placed around the shaft. The distinct advantage of this approach is that the electromagnetic interaction takes place over the entire surface area of the shaft, resulting in smoother operation. The 5000 Series offers three standard models with peak forces ranging from 200 to 1,200 lbs. and stroke lengths of 2", 4", 6", 8", 12" and 18". The prices start at approximately $5,000 per unit.
