The Z8 Encore! MC microcontroller family ramps up for sensor-less, brushless dc and ac induction motor-control applications. Initial offerings include a choice of 16 KB (Z8FMC16100), 8 KB (Z8FMC08100), or 4 KB (Z8FMC04100) of flash memory. Available in lead-free, 32-pin QFN or LQFP packages, features include: 2.7V to 3.6V operation; a 20-MHz CPU core; 512 bytes of RAM; six channels of 12-bit PWM with fast shutdown; 8-channel, 2.5-µs, 10-bit a/d converters with internal references; integrated op amps and analog comparators; and 5.5-MHz oscillators with 2% accuracy. Peripheral support consists of a UART plus LIN, SPI, and I2C interfaces. In addition to the silicon, the devices offer support via firmware, development tools, turnkey solutions, and application support. Pricing is $2.50 each/5,000 for the 16 KB version.
