The SLA7051M constant-current, two-phase unipolar driver IC, which has a built-in translator, can output currents of ±2 A. The translator/driver combines low-power CMOS logic with high-current and high-voltage power FET outputs. In addition to an internal translator for full, half-step, or rotating directions, the SLA7051M features inputs compatible with 3.3- or 5.0-V control signals. Synchronous pulse-width-modulation (PWM) operation for two-phase outputs is provided to eliminate motor vibration at hold time. The SLA7051M, which is supplied in an 18-pin dual in-line power-tab package, operates from -20°C to 85°C. It costs $3.20 apiece in 10,000-unit quantities.
