Fully qualified to AEC-Q100, the AS5140H 10-bit encoder from Austriamicrosystems can operate in ambient temperatures up to 150°C without additional temperature compensation or calibration. The unit’s 35° resolution allows it to recognize 1024 positions within one 360° rotation, accessible by either a serial or pulse-width modulation (PWM) interface. The encoder also lets users program three different incremental outputs, including a three-phase commutation signal for brushless dc motors. An integrated voltage regulator permits either 3.3- or 5-V operation.
