With two identical drivers, each delivering 4A of peak current into a highly capacitive load, this new CMOS high-speed dual MOSFET/IGBT driver IC is suitable for use with medium current MOSFETs and IGBTs. The driver chip can simplify the design of driver circuits for MOSFETs and IGBTs in push-pull, half-bridge and full-bridge topologies. The driver's improved speed and drive capabilities are further enhanced by its low rise and fall times in the order of 25 ns, which are matched. The driver operates over a wide supply voltage range of 4.5V to 25V and can be driven by either TTL or CMOS input signals. Each driver is fully immune to latch-up within the range of 0A to 4A output current and switching frequencies up to a few megahertz are possible. The IXDD404 driver is targeted for use in motor controls, UPS systems, dc/dc converters, SMPSs, and pulse generators. Housed in an 8-pin PDIP, the IXDD404PI driver IC costs $2.69 each/1,000.
