Designed for applications where space is critical, the RCML15 compact optical encoder combines brushless motor commutation pulses and incremental position feedback in a low-profile (0.350" high) unit. Due to its LED and sensor arrangement, the RCML15 optical commutation encoder boasts of lower costs along with improved performance and reliability of the brushless motor/encoder package. Encoder frequency response is said to reach 300 kHz. In addition, ±20° of rotation of the encoder is allowed to align the commutation tracks with the motor poles. The unit also features a slide/gap mechanism to ease installation. The RCML15 is available in a wide selection of resolutions up to 2048 lines, provides commutation for 4, 6 or 8 pole brushless motors, and meets NEMA's ICS-16 requirements.
