Three new PID-based position controllers have been developed for use with small to medium size DC brushed motors. Well-suited for use in robotics or light industrial positioning systems, the new 32-bit controllers include: ICON_PID, which works with the company's ICON H-Bridge module, uses 1-40 Vdc at 12A and costs $100 each; mini MPID, a 1-30 Vdc at 3.75A powered controller priced at $80; and micro UPID, which uses 6-30 Vdc at 2.5A and costs $80. Other features of the controllers include: direct position control via 38.4, 19.2 or 9.6 Kbps serial interfaces; analog position control mode (1,024 positions) with offset and multiplier functions; a velocity control mode; capacity for storing up to 16 trapezoidal profile segments and 3 PID settings; and more.
