Measuring and weighing a mere 2" x 1.8" x 0.6" and 1.76 oz., respectively, the Whistle digital servo drive can be mounted directly on a motor housing or in close proximity thereof. Its miniature footprint notwithstanding, the drive is capable of delivering up to 500W of power and efficiencies up to 99%. It interfaces with dc brush, brushless PM, linear, and/or voice coil motors. Operating voltage, via an external isolated supply, spans 7.5 to 95 Vdc. A smart supply-control algorithm enables the component to operate with a single power supply, eliminating the need for a logic supply. Seven models offer a range of voltage ratings from 60V to 100V and current levels from 1A to 5A. Similar to the SimplIQ family, the Whistle drives offer a range of feedback options, programming capabilities, and communications protocols. List prices are $400 for a standard model and $500 for the advanced unit. For more information, contact John McLaughlin at ELMO MOTION CONTROL INC., Westford, MA. (978) 399-0034.
